Cities in the Black Sea Basin &#8221; (BSB00006) project aims to reduce the urban heat island effect and create cities that are resilient to climate change. As part of this project, thermal walk activities are being conducted in partner cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The thermal walks are based on participants observing surface temperatures with thermal cameras, filling out thermal comfort surveys, and providing feedback on nature-based solutions that can be implemented against urban heat. This process not only collects scientific data but also raises local awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Completed Thermal Walks:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uzunk\u00f6pr\u00fc (Turkey) \u2013 Walks were conducted on July 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, 2025, with three different groups on Gazi Street. The groups included local government representatives, technical staff, and members of non-governmental organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kavala (Greece) \u2013 Thermal walks were held on July 14th, 15th, and 16th, 2025, with a total of 30 participants. Participants observed surface temperatures in different parts of the city and completed thermal comfort surveys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Batumi (Georgia) \u2013 As part of a study visit on July 17th, 18th, and 19th, 2025, thermal discomfort walks were conducted in specific urban areas of Batumi. Participants experienced heat stress in different urban textures and contributed to the surveys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sozopol (Bulgaria) \u2013 During the walks on July 23rd, 24th, and 25th, 2025, local stakeholders and technical experts observed surface temperatures with thermal cameras at various points in the city and completed thermal comfort surveys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These events provide critical data for creating urban heat maps, which will be developed as part of the project.
