This lab will evaluate the urban heat island (UHI) effect and provide green solutions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Specialized equipment, including drones with thermal cameras, will be purchased to measure meteorological conditions such as air temperature, wind speed, and humidity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading ctlb-block-title\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\"><strong><strong><strong>Key Milestone: <\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ctlb-block-desc\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\">A study visit will be held in Kavala, Greece, to present the LANDLAB&#8217;s work plan and measurement methodology.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cp-timeline-content-timeline-block-child swiper-slide\"><div class=\"timeline-content icon-false \"><div class=\"timeline-block-timeline ctl-row  position-right\"><div class=\"ctl-6 timeline-block-time\"><div class=\"story-time\"><p>Phase 3 <\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"timeline-block-icon\"><svg stroke=\"currentColor\" fill=\"currentColor\" stroke-width=\"0\" viewBox=\"0 0 512 512\" height=\"1em\" width=\"1em\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\"><path d=\"M256 8C119 8 8 119 8 256s111 248 248 248 248-111 248-248S393 8 256 8z\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"ctl-6 timeline-block-detail\"><div class=\"story-details\"><div class=\"story-content\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading ctlb-block-title\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\"><strong><strong><strong><strong>Fieldwork and Data Collection (Months 9-16)<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ctlb-block-desc\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\">LANDLAB experts and local teams will conduct on-site measurements to assess the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect in the target cities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading ctlb-block-title\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\"><strong><strong>Activity 1.3:<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ctlb-block-desc\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\"><strong><strong>Joint Measurement of the Urban Heat Island (UHI) Effect<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">The LANDLAB team, together with local measurement groups, will conduct thermal measurements in the four target cities: Uzunk\u00f6pr\u00fc, Sozopol, Batumi, and Kavala.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">These measurements will be performed using both &#8220;measurement walks&#8221; with mobile ground equipment and aerial thermal imaging with drones. This is one of the longest-running phases of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading ctlb-block-title\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\"><strong><strong>Activity 1.4:<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ctlb-block-desc\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\"><strong><strong><strong>Green Recovery Actions and Pilot Implementations<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">LANDLAB will create heat-stress maps and strategic reports with green solution proposals for the target cities based on the measurement results.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Three pilot investment projects will be implemented:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Uzunk\u00f6pr\u00fc: A Climate Adaptation and Community Garden Park will be established.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sozopol: Pedestrian paths and a rainwater collection facility will be built in a forest park.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Kavala: Trees will be planted for shading in heat-affected urban areas, applying the principle of &#8220;circularity&#8221;.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">After the green spaces are created, the heat stress in these areas will be measured again to evaluate the effectiveness of the interventions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading ctlb-block-title\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\"><strong><strong><strong>Key Milestone: <\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ctlb-block-desc\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\">A joint workshop will be held in Sozopol, Bulgaria, to promote the developed &#8220;Pathway Planning Guide&#8221;.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cp-timeline-content-timeline-block-child swiper-slide\"><div class=\"timeline-content icon-false \"><div class=\"timeline-block-timeline ctl-row  position-right\"><div class=\"ctl-6 timeline-block-time\"><div class=\"story-time\"><p>Phase 5 <\/p><\/div><\/div><div class=\"timeline-block-icon\"><svg stroke=\"currentColor\" fill=\"currentColor\" stroke-width=\"0\" viewBox=\"0 0 512 512\" height=\"1em\" width=\"1em\" xmlns=\"http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\"><path d=\"M256 8C119 8 8 119 8 256s111 248 248 248 248-111 248-248S393 8 256 8z\"><\/path><\/svg><\/div><div class=\"ctl-6 timeline-block-detail\"><div class=\"story-details\"><div class=\"story-content\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading ctlb-block-title\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\"><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>Capacity Building and Knowledge Transfer (Months 9-26)<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ctlb-block-desc\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\">To ensure the project&#8217;s sustainability, this phase aims to increase the knowledge and skills of local experts and the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading ctlb-block-title\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\"><strong><strong>Activity 1.5:<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"ctlb-block-desc\" style=\"padding-top:0px;padding-right:0px;padding-bottom:0px;padding-left:0px\"><strong><strong>Capacity Building on Climate Resilience<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">A &#8220;Training of Trainers&#8221; model will be adopted. First, an online training will be organized for experts from each partner country.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">These trainers will then conduct in-person training sessions in their native languages for municipal park and garden experts and for the general public (e.g., garden owners, citizens).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-small-font-size\">Specialized booklets will be prepared for the training sessions and shared online.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cp-timeline-content-timeline-block-child swiper-slide\"><div
